We're thrilled to have professor-author-marketer-consultant-listener Ban Mittal as our November speaker. He'll be presenting The RARE Formula to Creating Great Advertising: A Recipe for Ads That Will Stick - The advertiser toils for days and weeks, and then an ad is born. It is the dream of every agency to create and of every brand custodian to unfurl an ad that will stick. Dr. Mittal will offer a formula for what makes an ad stick. R.A.R.E. -- Relevant, Adorable, Resonating, Enchanting-- He will demonstrate it with a few select campaigns. Creating ads that meet the RARE screen will elevate the art and the science of commercial persuasion. It is also, he will argue, a civic duty of the communications professional.

With a Ph.D. in Consumer Psychology and Marketing (Univ. of Pittsburgh), Ban Mittal has been a self-proclaimed student of advertising for more than two decades. His seminal research paper ("Here is the Beef: Factors in Consumer Criticism of Advertising" J. of Marketing, July 1993) received the "Best 5-Year Contribution Award" in 1998 by AMA. He has been a Professor of Marketing at SUNY (Buffalo), Univ. of Miami (FL), UNSW (Australia) and Northern Kentucky University (Currently). He has coauthored two books: ValueSpace (McGraw-Hill, 2001) and Consumer Behavior (Open Mentis, 2016). He still fondly remembers his two-decade old Summer Fellowship at Ogilvy & Mather (NYC) and enjoys telling his students why advertising still fascinates him.
